I'm not going to lie. Today's blog post is late because last night instead of being a responsible human being I decided I was going to drink an entire bottle of whiskey (FECKIN' Irish Whiskey to be specific, it mixes fairly well.) This led to a night of playing games with other friends, also drinking, and a good time was had by all. At least until 2 am when we all logged off the internet and crashed in our respective beds.
So, my question for you today is have you ever been drunk at the game table? Ever do a drunken cthulu run or a dungeon crawl? They can be fun, provided everyone is willing to be a bit less serious. Heck, if people restrain from getting all the way drunk - but do get a bit tipsy - you can even get some amazing role playing out of your shyer players as their inhibitions wear off.
So, how about it? Any experience with booze at the table?
For a while, the standard drink for our Vampire games was cherry juice, whiskey and generous helpings of ice cream. I normally don't drink at all and this was enough to make me more than tipsy. But it wore off as the game went on and we we usually kidding around for the first hour or so anyway, we always had a problem with starting a serious game right away.
ReplyDeletedrunken gaming is not really for me, unless it's Feng Shui, which I think should be epic when drunk.
Definitely not something to do all the time, and probably something to do more when one is younger (college year gaming) but still fun on occasion. that sounds like an interesting combination for the Vampire game though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, definitely not helpful to be drinking for a "serious" game. :)
